First "Zetti"

Journal Page

My family always laughs when I say that I'll try anything once! (Except for skydiving!) Well . . . here you have it . . . my first EVER Zetti figure! Several months ago I enrolled in Nancy Baumiller's "Collage Class". Lessons began last week with techniques for making backgrounds and borders, and this week's lesson was to create crazy, Zetti-style people.

Why has it taken so long for me to create a Zetti figure, you ask? Many of you already know that really scary things frighten the stuffings out of me. Believe it or not disembodied people and severed body parts fit into that "frightening" category! You might say that I've been facing my fears with this class. (Frankly when I saw all of the various body parts laying in wait on my work table, it gave me a great case of the "willies"!!!)

Actually, once I overcame my initial fear and started putting "Matilda" together, I really enjoyed the Zetti making process. Overall, I'm having a lot of fun with this class. It's forcing me to be more playful, to work larger and to try new techniques. I can't wait to see what's next!!!

Hope you're brave enough to try something "new" today!

Terri; well, I for one, am happy you made the leap with Zetti. It took me awhile to get used, to them, but decided, when looking through the expressions and images, I found myself drawn to some of them - not all. I ended up getting a couple collage sheets and playing around and even ventured into a couple of their stamps now. One I might even use for a holiday postcard of all things :)

This is a terrific collage, love the border, colors and composition - just terrific! Welcome to the world of Zetti; you've created a lovely collage with it.

Yes! good for you going outside your creative box and getting over the fear of paper body parts :)
You pulled it off so well and still created a collage that is so "you", it is stupendous!!! Is that a word?

I actually am still not sure what Zeti is, never tried it but I am assuming it is putting bits and pieces of people into one?

And she is the prettiest, most lady-like Zetti girl I've ever seen. For some reason this style of collage is so liberating to me. It's a chance to be completely random and silly, and probably the fact that i'm WAY too comfortable with it speaks volumes about me!

This is a fantastic collage!

What a lovely journal page and a fabulously feminine & Zetti "Zetti." Looks like Nancy's class is too cool...I'm going to be stepping into her class a bit late (Friday if all goes well) so I'll have some catching up to do. So wonderful that this page looks Zetti but still, definitely screams "Pringle Hill." Bravo! x0 - Michelle

Oh you poor thing - I can't imagine -most of my work must scare you...I hope not all of it. I had a friend who was deathly afraid of things that were larger than they were supposed to be, like oversized bobby pins :0)
I too am happy you took the leap because it certainly is easy to see you have a knack for it!

It's good to know you are getting right outside your box. I wonder when you will join the likes of me, who actively search out the odd body part especially from old mags. I was in the hairdressers recently leafing through a mag when I saw a pair of legs complete with trainers, and I knew right there and then I had to have them. Yes, I'm the phantom magazine ripper!!!

Anyway back to your Zetti collage, it's fantastic my friend and I hope the first of many.

Terri, I come to your blog because Marilyn Rock is my friend and I love the atc she won that was your art. It is great. I was laughing as I read about your Zetti figure as I too am afraid of a lot of things and avoid getting scared if I can. Nice job and a lesson to experiment and get uncomfortable. It pays off. Thanks.
