"Hope" Revisited

"Hope"

Mother Nature covered us with yet another white blanket of snow overnight. Winter is continuing it's hold on us with a vengeance this year. When I saw this week's nature theme at The Three Muses challenge, my thoughts immediately turned to the beautiful hope of Spring, sunny blue skies and warmer days.

Although this piece was created as a gift for a dear friend last Summer and is making an encore performance, it reminds me that spring is "eternal" and hope is, indeed, "a thing with feathers".

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

Emily Dickenson

Wishing you a day filled with hope!

Ah, Terri, your "nature" picture is exquisite. When I saw it, I just had to say "ahhhhhhhhhhhh". Absolutely gorgeous. I love your creativity, placing a beautiful butterfly in a jar labelled "hope". This is one of your very best and that is saying something!
Fabulous.

Beautiful, Terri, just beautiful. I wonder where I could buy a bottle of Hope? I have discovered one plus in this interminable winter, though. I got my computer fixed in time for my refrigerator to go out on Monday, and the back porch was a perfect place to keep its contents until the repairman came today.

I am glad you revisited this piece, since I have not seen it before. By bringing it back, you have shown new followers and readers things they may have missed. The Emily Dickinson poem you added is simply perfect for this beauty.

Hi there Terri, I just discovered your blog (through Alberta, I was one of her winners too... congrats to you too!) and the first thing I see on your blog is "hope"... that made me smile! I just finished an art journal page (for "One Year in the Life of an Art Journal") and we had to use the word hope... I had difficulties with it at first, but now the word seems to hount me :)
I love your art!!!

What a beautiful creation and positively wonderful quote! I love that quote.
I too am READY for spring. Although we haven't had the amount of snow that the DC, MD and PA areas have gotten this year, we have had our share plus the temperatures have been below normal for most of the winter!
Hopefully you will see the tiny buds of spring VERY soon!

So sweet and lovely as always Terri!
More snow ... well at least it freshened up the dirty snow probably left from the last weather event ;)

Spring will be extra sweet this year!
I had never read the second verse to that quote, very lovely too!

Beautiful! Spring, I hope it's not to far off! No white stuff , but still very cold and windy here by the sea. I saw you in the magazine!!!!!!

Fantabulous and everyone else thinks so too, you have such a way of putting such deep meaning in to your work like the butterfly in the jar labelled hope, you are my inspiration dear friend. Love ya!

As for Spring, I heard a dove this morning and all I have heard all winter are the Canada geese that park themselves at the conservation area next door. To me, that is a sign of Spring :)
