"The Butterfly"

"The Butterfly"
8 1/2" x 11"
Cut & Paste Collage

Did you ever start a project and tuck it away? That's exactly what happened with this journal page. I created it a few months ago after watching Teesha Moore's awesome journaling videos on her blog and You Tube. (You can click here to go to there!).

Before!

I was mesmerized by Teesha's creative process. Her method is filled with spontaneity and joy. In fact, she loves to say "I don't think about it too much." - sage advice that I need to keep in mind. Many times I tend to over-think a piece rather than just "feeling" it and listening to my Muse.

Teesha's videos inspired me to create the background and Zetti figure from torn magazine clippings, paint, pan pastels and some markers as an exercise. Then, I tucked the page away and almost forgot about it. When I found the quote last week, I knew it was perfect for my little "plain Jane".

May your day be filled with spontaneity!

A perfect marriage between image and text, well worth waiting for them to come together

You have done Teesha proud. And Buckminster Fuller is one of my favorite people. His geodesic dome houses are perfect architectural structures and his writings are so thought provoking (as is testified by the quote you used). Not only is this a great piece of art, it's a nice tribute to someone I greatly admire.

Isn't it funny how that happens--you know when something isn't finished, you have to put it aside for just that right detail, and you'll always find it sooner and later. That's why I can't throw away any of my piles of stash here, because you never know :)

Terri this just jumped out of my gallery and WOWED me. You have taken Teesha's style and made it your own and I'm glad you waited for the quote by the way, it really did finish this wonderful collage off to a T.

Teesha is amazing, isn't she? I have just been pouring through some old journal publications (PLAY) that she gave to me at ArtFest - so inspiring!

It's a good feeling when artwork just goes together. This little gal certainly did.

Terri, I've done the very same thing. I watched the video on how to make the journal and went right out and got the stuff and made one, however I've only completed one page!!! Tracey and I were just talking about neglecting our journals the other day!
Cute page, nice job!

"Many times I tend to over-think a piece rather than just "feeling" it and listening to my Muse."

I do this alot. I also am afraid to 'just go for it' sometimes - I mean, what if I screw up?

I have to learn to go with the feeling and not worry - the joy of being spontaneous will prove itself in the end.

I LOVE your gal!!

Love it! Sometimes a piece has to sit around for awhile waiting for the perfect final finishing touch to turn up :D
