"World on a String"

"World on a String"
4"x6" Postcard
(Click on a star to see the details!)

One of the themes for a swap at my art group this month asked that we create a postcard based on a Frank Sinatra song. Imagine the creative ideas that ran through my mind when I thought of his extensive catalog of song titles.

There's always been a very special place in my heart for Frank Sinatra. About 35 years ago we had a new house, a new baby; and, like most young couples - empty pockets.  Funds to splurge on a Saturday date night were non-existent. So I'd put the baby to bed early, set a table for two on our little porch with the few pieces of good china we owned, added a few candles and some posies, and turned on the radio to listen to the local radio station's weekly broadcast of their "Saturday with Sinatra" program. **Big Sigh.**

Thank you, Mr. Sinatra, for many wonderful, romantic evenings and priceless memories!

Hope you have a bit of romance in your day!

Credits: Most of the images are from Tumble Fish Studio at DeviantScrap.com including: The dancing woman, her halo and wings, the stars, the green and black scalloped border at the top of the piece, the black & white striped border and several additional pieces of the border. Special thanks to Norma Frances - Flickr for the piece of green border and the Nancy Baumiller at Crowabout for the piece of dotted pink border (altered). The image of the world is from NASA. Remaining images of the roses and Mr. Moon are mine.

I look forward to your wonderful Sunday evening posts Terri and this piece is astounding! She is so full of life and expression. A wonderful collage of images that do illustrate the song and a bit of that whole era. Thanks for sharing a bit of your past!

I've started enjoying these new posts each Sunday evening. I also enjoyed your story and the lively way your words brought it to life as colorfully as the collage you shared with us. I only have one thing to say about this card. It's too bad you are such a minimalist (grin).

Wow Terri - I'm not sure how long I've been following your blog, but each time I visit, you always seem to raise the bar so to speak in your art - this is just above and beyond - I saw this and another collage at DS and had to come look here - BEAUTIFUL - I can now recognize your art for it's signature style --- when are you going to start selling these?

And the little oriental girl - how generous of you - she is just perfect for an asian themed collage. Can hardly wait to see her pop up inside your marvelous collage work. I'm excited to try her out!
Thank you!
Thank you

What can I say? Superb, just superb down to the piece of string on her finger. No-one could put a song together like Frank. What a legend.

Your art is so happy. I want to step in like a world of wonder. I just adore this! Did you add the color to her legs or was she a color image already? I would love to know? Thanks for the sweet light you shine on my day. Blessings.

Terri! I can't decide which I enjoyed more, your beautiful creation or the precious memory you shared of days gone by. Your story has "stuck" in my brain as it is such a heartwarming reminder of how we can create such special memories for those we love with some special little touches.

BTW, third visit and just now leaving a comment! Would get caught up in all your creativity and then get called away before commenting. Typing fast before something else happens! ha ha!
