Mail Call - Journal Pillows

Fabric Journal Pieces

Look what came in my mailbox yesterday! I'm so excited! A few months ago my art group decided to make an assortment of little fabric pillows for assembly into a journal page, a la Teesha Moore. Our little fabric sections were to be handmade and embellished with goodies of our choice. (Click here if you want to take a peek at my pillows.)

Here's a better look at all of the delicious details and beautiful handwork on my received swaps.

When I first heard about this challenge I was hesitant to participate. Generally, hand sewing of any kind is not my forte. Normally, I just look at thread and it tangles in knots. I'm so happy that I pushed my fears behind me to give this project a try. These beautiful, creative results have far exceeded my expectations. A HUGE 'thanks' to my fellow artisans for such a great swap.

The details in these are amazing! I had a look at yours as well and I think I remember some of them from a post of yours from the past but they are truly exquisite Terri!! I love that you pushed yourself to do this because you are too handy with that needle and thread. When you are an artist if you REALLY want to try something ANYTHING is possible!! AMAZING!!

I came to leave a comment on your pillows and was struck by the realization that FRIDAY is the 13th. How did I miss that before?

No matter. My art friend Dana makes these and I know how fun they are when I see her making them. In fact, I'm the one who told her about Teesha's pillows way back when. What irony from a person who can't even grip a needle.

This swap was fun and I bet you are glad you pushed yourself. You made stunning pillows yourself and got some lovely ones in return.

I love these and yours are gorgeous.

Thanks for the TM link. I am going to try and make these and they are perfect to embellish whilst travelling, as suggested by Teesha.

I'm not sure about sewing them all together to make a larger square, though! Yikes! My sewing can sometimes end up like a dog's breakfast! :D

Hi dear! What a fun challenge!!! These make me think of how my Mom taught each of my little ones (except darling little Sir Three year old) to sew making little pillows. Love them! Blessings friend.
