My Gift Bags

After watching  Roben-Marie's video, I was inspired to make a few of my own gift bags using her techniques.

I dug through bags of lace snips, gathered some of my painted deli paper, black thread and brown paper bags, and spent an afternoon happily sewing away. Sewing is NOT my forte, but I found making these bags very relaxing - maybe because there are no rules.

You don't even have to be neat to obtain super results!

When I finished the first bag, I just couldn't stop.

And since I'm participating in a "Not So Secret Santa Swap" for my art group, these little bags were the perfect solution for wrapping my not so symmetrical Santa gifts.

 And . . . they're very sturdy too!

Although I'm not a huge fan of sewing, this project was well worth the time and effort! Here are a few more pics of the details.

And . . . ta daaaaaa . . . . the finished package just before it was sent to my "Not So Secret Santa" partner!

And to think . . . . it all started with brown paper bags and black thread!

Wishing you a day filled with creativity!

I watched the video too and really want to start making some of these. Yours turned out super duper! I love the little tags you gave them-did you make them? Of course you did! The natural looking bow really sets them off as well. Great!

Your bags are wonderful Terri! So you too! One would never know that sewing was not high on your list.
You certainly got me going when you posted the video...I was sorry my zigzag was not working...most surely an operator error...each time I had to replace a bobbin (and I went thru a few) I still have to look in the manual and I've had the machine for a longggg time
Great fun...I can't wait to make more
thank you again for always sharing and inspiring

I did all my hand sewing over the weekend and, well, now, I've just GOT to get out the machine and power through some bags - these are so great! I love the red paper.

OH TERRI, I'm in total awe of how you interpreted the video. And I'm glad to see that deli paper sews well. I've got to dig mine out, and like I said last week, I wish I'd known about this idea when I was wrapping all those 12 Days of Christmas "gifts." Lovely results, and of course, the tags are simply YOU!!
