Happy 2011

January 2011

This mixed media calendar is one of my very first art challenges for the New Year. Several members of my art group are creating "calendar journals". After we've made our personal calendar for the month, we'll journal something that summarizes our day. We can write as little as we want, draw a picture, doodle, rubber stamp, use a quote, etc. By the end of the month, each little box will be filled with a "memory".

I've never succeeded in keeping a daily diary or journal, but this little journal looks like a promising way to record my journey through 2011.

May your New Year be filled with peace and personal fulfillment!

Terri, may I wish you a peaceful. happy and prosperous New Year. You are such a "presence" on the blogs, admired and appreciated by all. Your genuine enthusiasm and generosity are unsurpassed.

Your calendar is sumptuous. I'm sure each day will be filled with lots of news and good humour. (I doubt if I could keep a diary for a week let alone a month or a year!)

Thankyou so much for all your kind comments on my blog. I really appreciate them and the time it must take for you to trawl through the blogs to leave your thoughts.

This is the most brilliant idea!! I must start this some day--right after I finish a quilt, a shrine, and oh my,my list is out of control this year! can't wait! xoxo

This seems like a great idea for getting those important moments down in writing-preserved for all time. It is probably better than a diary because you will be more inclined to write a few words, not feeling like you have to write a whole page. I love the muted orange and Southwest colors and the cute girl.

Me oh my, what a challenge that looks like! How do you keep that up and the blog and the artwork???

Terri, your calendar is simply wonderful! It looks like a board game, tempting to start doing something now - and as the quote says, you have to start in order to arrive. A beautiful calendar like this sure makes starting easier. Happy New Year to you!

Happy, happy New Year Miss Terri! My daughter just bought a journal in which you only write down one sentence a day. She said they are very popular this year and she had a hard time finding hers. And there you are! YOU made one!! Great, great idea. And do-able. I'm so like you in that journaling business. But this idea? I like it. I may just have to make myself one, too!! Thanks for the inspiration. - Kathy

Happy New Year! MAy all your dreams come true in 2011! I LOVE your calendar... one box would be much too small for me to keep my daily memories but I can totally imagine how awesome it will look at the end of the month! (I keep a "week" journal - see gallery on my blog - and that book sometimes even hasn't enough room to write my thoughts on... aarghhh - I'm a daily 'bulk writer'

I have always kept a journal - but I started writing quick view synopsis each day on my wall calendars... It's a wonderful way to keep days cemented in your mind.

BUT I've never made my own mixed media calendar with this specific purpose! What gorgeous brilliance! (I have to admit, I'd have a hard time writing on your beautiful calendar! Wouldn't want to muck it up!)

Merry New Year! May every day be a gem!

Wow, this calendar is super. I started one, but the pages were too small for all the dates. I love what you have done, though. Yours is so very colorful. I look forward to the day it's all filled with fun and little bits of Terri images. Have a great day and Happy 2011 to you, too, dear friend.
