Altered Spoons

Altered Spoons
(Click an any picture to see the details.)

One of the things that I like best about belonging to an art group, is that the monthly challenges give me an opportunity to try new things. Normally I'd be the first one at a flea market to pass by a table of unused, mismatched cutlery without giving it a second glance.

But when this month's challenge - Alter A Spoon - was posted, I couldn't resist giving it a try. I dug through my stash to find my little used Adirondack Inks, bits of fibers, beads, charms and ribbons, and spent an afternoon playing.

Who knew that altering old cutlery could be so addictive!?!

Finished Pieces

May your day be filled with unexpected pleasures!
PS Let's all keep our collective fingers crossed this week so that 'Blogger' behaves!

Terri these are so beautiful! Like Ann, I've altered lots of cutlery - but none as enchanting as these! You inspire me to do some more! =)

These are the most beautiful altered spoons I have seen this year. Love all the delicious embellishments you've added! Superb Terri!

Marvelous! I really like the way the inks give that shimmery appearance to the metal and the colors blend in a watery way. Beads and a bit of ribbon and you make spoons fit to be feeding kings! xox Corrine

How nifty! I know you had fun with these. I wonder if you could alter just the handles so the spoons would actually be usable? Of course, they would be hard to keep clean. You are always coming up with unique items Terri and they are so colorful and fun!

These are the most unusual altered spoons I've seen, mostly because they have so much color. The ones I've seen (or made) all have a vintage feel to them, but not YOURS. They are full of vibrancy and color that turned my spoons green with envy. Love them.

Sorry I missed you some last week. My "other" life has been a bit busy lately.

OMG! I am in love with these spoons. You MUST do a tutorial on these. PALEEZ!!!! How did the Adirondack ink go on and stay . I'm dumb on that part. Paleez!
Yup I am sticking to asketch painting a day. Some of the one's are mind boggling to say the least but they get me thinking. That's a good thing, I think.... (husband debates that one) LOL

I would never have thought of altering a spoon... I'm not the 'altering things' kinda type myself (I prefer flat paper and books) but it sure looks beautiful!!!

Your colorful touches to these pieces are magnificent!

It's been so long since I've made anything...can't wait for things to settle down end of this month so I can play again!
