Gift Card Envelopes - Part 2

 Gift Card Holders
(Click on any picture to see the details!)

In one of my earlier posts, I showed you a few gift card envelopes that I created by using recycled cardboard sleeves. Since I depleted my coffee sleeve inventory and needed a few more of these handy envies for June gifts, I looked around my little studio to find a suitable substitute.

When I  found a stash of empty toilet paper rolls, the proverbial 'light bulb' clicked into the 'on' position. I measured them to see if my gift cards would fit, and . . . . voila . . . .they were perfect!

Instead of gessoing and painting the cardboard tubes, I used matte medium for glue and covered them with copies of some of my art journal background pages. I sewed three edges with metallic copper thread, added fibers, a few pretty paper beads that I received in a recent swap, and a Shrinky Dink charm made from my artwork.

Once again, I was pleased with the results and the price was more than perfect!

Wishing you a day filled with creative solutions!

Oh Terri, Love that idea! I made a little mini book out of toilet rolls a while back, but I think I like this idea even better!!! I still have loads of empty rolls flying around and now you have really inspired me. I love what you have done with yours, the little shrinky dink charms are just brilliant!

By the way, my blogroll showed you loaded these 3 hours ago... that must have been pretty late at night your time.....Oh and I love the sewing with the copper thread! You have become a wizz with that sewing machine of yours!!

Wow, wow, wow!!! I just finished a card for fathers-day (June 19th here in Holland) and I need to make a nice envelope to put it in. My card is way bigger then a toilet tube, but I will definitely 'lift' the idea and make something like this with cardboard. Thanks for the inspiration Terri!

Recycling at its best. Have never tried papering them before, only inked and stamped, but I like these a whole lot better. Annette x

You'd never, ever know what they started as if you would not have told. Great idea. Also, I just viewed your video on the glue resist. I've got tons of ideas from it and really do plan to use it sometime soon. Thanks so much for the fun video and inspiration. Hope you will keep making these lovely videos!

First, those beads are spectacular. I had to reread to see you got them in a swap. My question is, how do you get the cardboard flat? Mine always have ridges where I flatten them. Yours are PERFECT!

Bravo Terri... what a creative way to use up your empty toilet rolls, there are certainly plenty that go in the recycle bin, but why not use them :)

"Lovely USE" and in markets wrap made from cellophane which is not eco friendly this is too much better option. Now,I know what to do with wastage envelopes.
