Fall Calendars - Finally!

November
(Click on a leaf to see the details!)

You're looking at a journal spread that was created by candlelight! When I printed my images earlier in the week, little did I know that we'd lose our electricity for five days. No art for almost a week??? No Way!

If our fore mother's could do it, so could I! I sat at my kitchen table cutting and pasting by candlelight until my poor hands were numb with cold. When our power returned, I finally had an opportunity to finish my spread. There's certainly a lot to be thankful for lately!

Thought you might like to see my "finished" October spread too! I'm so happy that this spread is colorful and fun. There were no treats in our neighborhood this year because we'd been "tricked" by Mother Nature with that unexpected snowstorm!

October 2011
May your day be filled with warmth and lots of lve !

I cannot imagine or don't wish to imagine five days without electricity. More POWER to YOU for creating art in the light of a candle! And what art it is! Cute, festive, and fun.

Beautiful pages, Terri! And I must say there is something romantic about it too, creating by candlelight! But five days..no, it would make me crazy. BTW, great new profile picture! ;-)

Well done for keeping up with the challenge so far. Can you believe we are almost at the end of 2011?! I'm sure this challenge makes the time go quicker ....... X

Especially beautiful knowing the love and devotion that went into creating it despite your circumstances.

You are amazing. How could you work with no electricity? And..do such a spectacular job!

Candlelight. What a beautiful word.

Lavish and colorful pages. I can certainly relate to your plight. It happened to me in January, 2005. For six days I sat with NO heat or electricity. The problem was, the city, which lost all power, except for blocks/areas on the east side of town, went by zip codes when repairing the lines, and although my neighborhood was one of the first areas to lose power, we and two other neighborhoods were the very last to get it back. I wore gloves to stay warm and when I made art, I wore latex gloves over my leather gloves. I actually got more art made in those six days than I would have had I had the internet or TV as a distraction. Of course, I am a candle person, anyway, so it gave you a chance to use some of those candles we all hold onto for "special" occasions. Glad this is now just a memory and a way to make some colorful art to celebrate that time.
