Powerless!!!

It all began with
a few snowflakes . . .

How do I begin to tell you about our week? It started innocently enough with just a sprinkle of snowflakes on some fallen leaves and our Halloween pumpkin. Within a few hours, however, we were living in a winter wonderland!

The gentle snowfall rapidly became a terrible snow squall. When the storm ended 24 hours later, we were blanketed with 12+ inches of wet, heavy snow. Downed branches and broken tree limbs dotted the landscape and ripped power lines apart. Within hours we were left in the dark along with approximately 1/2 million other people in our area.

Fortunately, we sustained  minimal property damage. We  did have a fireplace to keep us warm, plenty of candles, water, hot water (believe it or not!), down blankets, and - most importantly - a cell phone.  Our camping experience ended yesterday when the power popped back on. We're very fortunate - many people are still powerless almost an entire week later.

Needless to say, there's been no blogging, no new posts, no new art, etc., but I have several pieces in the works. I'll share them with you soon, but will use the next few days to regroup. I've missed everyone so much -  It's good to be back in Blogland!

Warm wishes for a wonderful day!

Welcome back Terri! I thought of you this week and wondered how the snowfall had affected you. You must be so relieved to have power again. Thank goodness you had a fireplace to stay warm! Your photos are quite something - all that white! Enjoy your "warm" weekend.

Welcome back in blogland Terri, we missed you! Good to hear you are safe and sound and not too worse for wear. Where does the time go, it only seems weeks ago that you gnomes were hidden under a blanket of snow from last year's winter.... What is happening to our poor planet, surely it can't be normal to have snow at this time of the year even in your part of the world...?

I wondered what happened to you, and am so glad to see you are back. It's great that you had minimal property damage. I can't believe you had presence of mind to capture the snow storm as it was just beginning. Wonderful photos. Hope you are art inspired because you have been sorely missed.

So good to have you back my friend!! Things like this make us appreciate everything we take for granted sooo much more. I actually have family in Cn still without power.
Fingers crossed that all the "powerless" regain their power soon!!

I hope our power is back. We got ours on Wednesday night, not much snow here but big wind which topped the oak trees over. So sad to lost so many trees. Hope you are snug and playing in your studio. xox Corrine

Good grief! I had no idea you were smack in the middle of all this. So glad to hear all is well and power is restored.

OMG! So glad you are up and running again. It is amazing how much we count on electricity. I have been where you were several times and it gets real old quickly, especially sleeping with mittens and your winter ski hat on. It is such a lovely site. LOL Anxiously awaiting your creations. Sharon

Oh my gosh the snow is beautiful. I can not imagine living with no power through that. I am just a southern beach girl.
pssh. I have a secret...I just put an offer in on a house in the mountains so snow is in my future.
