It's been quite a while since I've posted a new page for my current Teesha Journal round robin swap. The art-filled journals have been flying from the East Coast to the West Coast, and have traveled as far as Alaska. I've one more page to show you before my journal comes home filled to the brim with fabulous artwork from the other participating artists. I can't wait!!!

Hope you have an art-filled day!

Credits: Thanks to Freubel for the image of the cake lady (slightly altered) and to Nancy Baumiller's Crowabout Group for the words, "Dreams Come True" and "Beauty", and the black & white striped border bits. Butterflies and bird are from Dover Publications. Crown, Zetti moon, stars and remaining borders from Pringle Hill Studio. Rose was found in the public domain, and the clock was snipped from a magazine ad.

More Mail Art!

School Days
Created by Lorraine
of Creative Daily

(Click on any of these pics to see the details!)

My sweet friend Lorraine at Creative Daily has been celebrating her blog's first year anniversary by hostessing a wonderful month of giveaways. A prize has been posted for each week during the month of May. And Lorraine, who is a supremely gifted mixed media/textile artist, has been giving away several pieces of her work.

Imagine my surprise when I received an email from Lorraine, informing me that I'd won her first week's giveaway - a fantastic textile piece named School Days. I couldn't wait for the mail to arrive! And when I finally received her creative package, it was well worth the wait. Lorraine actually "wrapped" her stunning piece in hand-sewn cloth "envelope" printed in colorful alphabet letters.

Scrumptious Details

Her attention to detail created a breathtaking piece. There are layers of hand dyed muslin, luscious lace, printed fabric, transfers, tulle and tiny brass embellishments to name a few. Fabulous!!!

 More Details

The more I've looked at this piece, the more I see. Lorraine even trimmed this amazing piece with a border of black and white. But that wasn't all! I squealed with delight when I saw a package filled with vibrant color.

Fabulous Fabrics

 Luscious Lace

Lorraine included a package of her beautiful hand-dyed lace and fabric. I almost swooned when I saw that fantastic orange lace, and the chartreuse took me over the moon! I seriously think she's trying to entice me into breaking out my old Singer!

More Goodies!

Once again, I am thrilled and humbled by a friend's generosity and very grateful that Lady Luck smiled on me. I'm so lucky to have won this magnificent giveaway. Thank you, thank you, Lorraine, for your kindness, and I hope you celebrate many more Blog-aversaries!!!

If you have an opportunity, stop by Lorraine's blog, Creative Daily, to see her beautiful work and wish her well. And if you're not too late, you can still enter her drawing for her last giveaway by clicking here.

A Great Sale!

My Mailbox & A Freebie

Found in my Mailbox!
It's been a very busy month for my postman, and I am very blessed to have received a wonderful assortment of goodies. Do you remember my Zetti Kitty postcard and the vibrant, red tea-themed envelope? Both of those pieces were mailed to my partners, and I received these two awesome pieces in return. A very special "Thank You!" to my swap partners. You brightened my day with color and creativity!

Thank You, Jean!
(Click on each picture to see the details!)

A while ago, my amazingly talented friend Jean at Bluebirds Living in the Meadow posted a video tutorial on making the most adorable flowers embellished with felted and beaded centers. I was absolutely enchanted. You can see Jean's excellent tutorial if you click here.

More Goodies!

Imagine my delight when I received a package stuffed to the brim with everything I need to make my own flowers - silky roving as soft as a thistle in all of the colors of the rainbow, a fabulous assortment of glittery beads and sequins and even some flower bases. But that wasn't all . . .

An ATC Too!

Jean also sent this gorgeous ATC with a hand sewn transparency! Stunning! Thank you, Sweet Jean, for your kindness and generosity. I am absolutely thrilled and delighted with all of your goodies and thoughtfulness.

Thank You, Patty!

An Unexpected Pleasure!

When my husband came in with the mail and dropped a package on my desk from my very creative friend, Patty at Magpie's Nest, I was thoroughly surprised. What could it be, I wondered!

I didn't have to wait very long to see Patty's gorgeous handmade heart, embellished with one of her handmade nests and filled with sweet, scented lavender. Thank you, Sweet Patty, for your wonderful gift. What a treasure! As I held it in my hand and felt your love, I admired every little detail in wonder. But that isn't all!

Hand Sewn Flowers

Patty enclosed a sweet little package of her lovely handmade flowers. (Notice that one has a felted, beaded center. Looks as though Jean has influenced a few of us this spring!) Two flowers are made of organdy ribbon with stitches so tiny and exquisite, a Fairy Queen would be proud to wear them. And then there was one more surprise tucked inside . . . .

Zentangled Note

Last but not least I found Patty's terrific Zentangled note. Her Zentangles are magnificent! Patty, My Beautiful Friend, thank you, thank you. You've touched my heart with your kindness and generosity of spirit. You can visit Patty by clicking here.

My heartfelt and humble "thanks", Dear Friends, for your generosity, thoughtfulness and love. I am thrilled beyond measure with your lovely art, gifts and sentiments.  Most of all, I am very blessed and grateful for your friendship.

Happily Ever After . . .

Karin's Journal Page
"Happily Ever After"
(Click anywhere to see the details!)

Although this journal page was originally created for Karin's Teesha Journal (my art group's on-going round robin), I think it works nicely as a tongue in cheek entry for this week's "relationships" challenge at the Three Muses. Unfortunately, I think most of us have kissed one too many frogs! LOL!

Hope you have an enchanted day!

Credits: Thanks to Moonlight Journey for the girl on the frog, the frog and the large flowers (all on the Fairy Tale digi-sheet). Special thanks to Tumble Fish Studio @ for the striped border, the random words located in the borders, the word "moonbeam" and the colorful wings. Many thanks also to Holliewood Studio @ for the crown and the little fairy house, to Julia - Ceremony for the hearts (altered), to Normal Frances - Flickr and Nancy Baumiller - Crowabout for bits of border and the little guy and to Dover Publications for the butterflies. The numbered border is from Pringle Hill Studio.

"World on a String"

"World on a String"
4"x6" Postcard
(Click on a star to see the details!)

One of the themes for a swap at my art group this month asked that we create a postcard based on a Frank Sinatra song. Imagine the creative ideas that ran through my mind when I thought of his extensive catalog of song titles.

There's always been a very special place in my heart for Frank Sinatra. About 35 years ago we had a new house, a new baby; and, like most young couples - empty pockets.  Funds to splurge on a Saturday date night were non-existent. So I'd put the baby to bed early, set a table for two on our little porch with the few pieces of good china we owned, added a few candles and some posies, and turned on the radio to listen to the local radio station's weekly broadcast of their "Saturday with Sinatra" program. **Big Sigh.**

Thank you, Mr. Sinatra, for many wonderful, romantic evenings and priceless memories!

Hope you have a bit of romance in your day!

Credits: Most of the images are from Tumble Fish Studio at including: The dancing woman, her halo and wings, the stars, the green and black scalloped border at the top of the piece, the black & white striped border and several additional pieces of the border. Special thanks to Norma Frances - Flickr for the piece of green border and the Nancy Baumiller at Crowabout for the piece of dotted pink border (altered). The image of the world is from NASA. Remaining images of the roses and Mr. Moon are mine.

"Miss Fish"

"Miss Fish"
4"x8" Skinny
(Click on her crown to see the details!)

This fun piece was created for Tumble Fish Studio's "Fishy Challenge" at Believe it or not, I've never worked in this particular size before, so this was a good challenge. Sometimes just changing something a tiny bit gives you a new perspective and makes you think differently.

FYI, my background was created with a page from an old children's dictionary. And since this was a "Fishy Challenge", this page showcases the word, fish, as well as few "fishy" derivatives.

If you'd like to participate in Marsha's "Fishy Challenge", you still have plenty of time to enter your skinny and possibly win a $10 coupon. To find out more about this fun challenge, click here.

Hope you challenge yourself a bit today!

Credits: Special thanks to Angellea - Flickr for the scalloped border, to Holliewood Studios - for the tiny heart on the crown, to DutchClogs - Flickr for all of the little fish and to Itkupilli for the can-can girl (highly altered). The rose and blue swirl border are from my collection. All of the remaining images are from Tumble Fish Studio at including: Miss Fish's body and face, her crown, her eyes, all of the lettering, the remaining borders (including the black & white checkered stripe), sash and random words.

"Ride, Sally, Ride"

"Ride, Sally, Ride"
4"x6" Postcard
(Click on a bubble to see the details!)

I adore the ocean, and it's been way too long since I've had a trip to the shoreline. Maybe that's what was going through my mind when I created this postcard.

My background was created with many 'washes' of Golden fluid acrylics in cobalt blue, turquoise and green (applied with a baby wipe and allowed to dry in between washes), followed by doodles of white gel pen 'bubbles'.

Hope you have a serene day!

Credits: Special thanks to Moonlight Journey for the central image of Sally on the fish, the other fish in the sea, and all of the pretty seashell. Thanks, also, to Nancy Baumiller's Crowabout Group - Flickr for the top and bottom borders.

"Fly Me to the Moon"

Irene's Journal Page
Approx. 4 1/2 x 5 1/2 "
(Click on a star to see the details!)

One of my latest "Teesha Journal" swap pages just happens to answer the star themed challenge at the Three Muses this week. This journal page features white gel pen stars that glimmer in a lemon-lime sky.

Our journal swap is beginning to wind down, and it's amazing to see the fabulous assortment of artistry and creativity contained in each of the journals I've received. It's also interesting to note that each has a distinct personality. Seeing other artist's creative work always inspires me to try new techniques and ideas. I'm wondering, what inspires you?

Hope you find inspiration today!

Zetti Postcard

"Miss Kitty"
4"x6" Postcard
(Click on her heart to see the details!)

April was a very busy month of swaps and challenges. I'm about to send this postcard off to my swap partner, but thought you'd enjoy a peek. This month's postcard swap theme was to create a Zetti creature of our choice.  Using Teesha Moore's influence, I drew Miss Kitty's face on a piece of scrap paper and colored it in with Prismacolor markers and pencils. After she was drawn, I decided to "go colorful". Geeze . . . what a surprise! LOL!

Hope you have a colorful day!

Credits: Special thanks to Nancy Baumiller's Crowabout Flickr group for many of the border pieces, the images used to collage Miss Kitty's dress, and her colorful heart. Shoes were clipped from a magazine and altered. The word, "Happy" was created from cut out magazine letters. Wings, highly altered, are from Dover Publications.
