"Sylvia" - A "Freebie"!

A PNG File
For your artful pleasure!

Something about this lovely girl fascinated me. She seemed as though she was longing for a "bit of color" in her life, and I couldn't resist the urge to grant her wish through the wonders of modern technology!

May your day be filled with color!

A - B - C's

Earlier this year I signed up for Joanne Sharpe's  "Lettering Love 101" class that was beginning in February. I couldn't wait to start. Using printed lettering in my work has become boring, and I felt that I needed a new challenge - AND some fun. Joanne's lettering class seemed to be just the ticket to break my "lettering monotony".

Then . . . "Life happened" and the class was put "on hold". Earlier this week, I wrote to Joanne explaining my situation, and she emailed a new link to the private blog. OMG! All I can say is . . . . this class is AmAZiNg!!! Thank You, Joanne!

Practice Makes Perfect!

The supplies are simple, the videos are superb, and Joanne is totally supportive! You don't need a lot of supplies, and there's a ton of support - you can join the Yahoo group, Flickr or Facebook. Joanne's thought of everything!!! This is some of the BEST money I've spent for a class . . . e-v-e-r!!! I've always hated my own lettering, and after watching only a few classes (which are self-paced) I feel as though I'm on my way to a new level of creativity.

If you'd like to see more of Joanne's work, click here to go to her "Whimspirations" blog where you'll find a link to her classes. And . . . you'll get a nice "dose of color" too!

May your day be filled with new discoveries!

Color Me Happy!

"Play Time!"

Making art is a necessity for me.  Making art fills my soul with serenity.  Making art is as important as breathing. During the past few months, there's been no time for art - color had drained from my world with my husband's illness. But now that he's slowly recovering, I can begin to relax and  "breathe" again, and I'm trying to fill "little moments" with color and creativity.

I've been printing images at home and have been using watercolors to paint backgrounds while I'm at the rehab center. My little "Guerrilla Art Kit" is packed in a closet, just waiting for a quiet moment. I do miss my studio and all of my art supplies, but I'm finding that experimenting with limited materials has it's own rewards.

Color is beginning to flow back into my world, and my soul is "singing" with gratitude and happiness!

May your day be filled with moments of color and joy!

For Your Artful Pleasure!

Many moons have passed since I've offered one of my "freebies", and when I saw Rosie's pretty little face, I just had to "color her in"! I hope she puts a smile on your face and fills your art with inspiration!

May your day be bright and beautiful!

Art Heals!

Art on the go . . .

This past week was a good week. Jim is getting stronger and color is beginning to return to my world. I can't tell you how much I've missed color! Have you noticed that most doctor's offices, hospital rooms and institutions are either gray .  .  . a color that I abhor, or beige . . . so very non-committal?!?

That being said . . . this week I took a little time to put a small art kit together. Nothing spectacular . . . just a few items from my studio that could fit into a Ziploc bag that I can leave in my husband's closet. I chose a tiny watercolor travel kit, watercolor crayons, a small set of brush pens, water brushes (one large and one small), some 4"x6" index cards, a plastic water dish (a recycled plastic top from a very large fabric softener bottle) and a fine-point black Sharpie.

It feels good to play again, and it's amazing how a few, basic art supplies have cheered me up. It's just a little "Chick-let" , some doodles and a few backgrounds, but it's a start - my creative soul is smiling again!

May your day be blessed with time to play!

Happy Spring!

Happy Easter
Happy Spring . . .
Happy, Happy

Earlier this week I took a pad of paper, a black felt-tipped pen and some watercolors to the rehab center. Doodling my little "Chick-lets" is very relaxing.  And, adding a bit of much-needed "color" makes my creative heart "sing"!

Wishing all of my "Chick-lets"a wonderful Holiday weekend!

Thank You!

During the past month I've learned that God listens to prayers, and that I am surrounded by many loving people. Thank you, My Friends for sending your loving thoughts, prayers and support. After many long and painful hours of waiting and praying, Jim was taken off of the ventilator successfully approximately three weeks ago.

After spending a week in a Critical Care Unit, Jim was transferred to a rehabilitation facility because his muscles have atrophied after being on life support. He can't move his legs, but his arms are now "working" but weak. The doctors are thrilled with his progress, and have called his recovery "miraculous". Having been the recipient of your love and kindness, I've absolutely no doubt that miracles DO happen - I'm married to one!!!

It's going to be a very long road "back" - we still face many health issues and obstacles. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. I am eternally grateful for your loving thoughts and support.

May you be surrounded by angels with colorful wings!
